Handmade soap is better because it's natural- No, it actually isn't. It's made by a chemical process. The soapmaker might tell you it's made with organic olive oil and that may be true but it is chemically altered and becomes Sodium Olivate which is the alkali salt of the fatty acids within the olive oil.
Handmade soap contains glycerine- Yes, that's true. Glycerine is a by product of saponification. It's a humectant and great for hydrating the skin. However commercial soaps have glycerine added to them so they have the same benefits.
Commercial soap is bad because it contains chemicals like SLS- these chemicals are detergents. Many of which started out natural and treated chemically in much the same way as soap is. That doesn't make it bad.
Commercial soap has synthetic fragrance added- This is true but its also true of handmade soaps. I use fragrances in my soaps. Not all. Some are fragrance free and some have essential oil but some have synthetic fragrances which are skin safe.
